Christmas Ale

  • SRM Color : 22
  • Brewer: Brewery Sint Bernardus
  • Brewer's Description: St.Bernardus Christmas Ale is a dark seasonal brewed in the classic 'Quadrupel' style of Belgium's best Abbey Ales. (10,0 % ABV) Similar to all the beers from our brewery, it greets the drinker with the signature aroma of the St.Bernardus house yeast strain (in use since 1946!) Rivaling the complexity of the St.Bernardus Abt 12, St.Bernardus Christmas Ale offers a spicy, mint-like flavor profile exuding the tastes of warming alcohol, fermented molasses, apricots, licorice and marzipan that are highligted by the perfect balance of brewing sugars.
The perfect companion to enjoy a (cold?) winter evening, with or without the company of your friends!
  • Recommended Glassware: A Goblet
  • Russ' rating: 10 / 10
  • With the brew: Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis - Tom Waits
  • Comments: Wow. This beer pours a hazy dark brown with a sweet aroma of fruit, with wisps of molasses and yeast. The head is of slightly larger than average ( > 0.7mm ) bubbles and lasts through the entire glass. The flavor is art... music... miraculous. It has a delicate mouthfeel with a complex combination of earthiness, fruit, malt and spice. The balance between the flavors is expertly struck, and at 10% ABV it is THE template for a "Winter Warmer"
