Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout

  • SRM Color : 70
  • Brewer: Stone Brewing Company
  • Brewer's Description: From the most unlikely yet intensely imaginative trio that is actor and uber-geek champion Wil Wheaton, alternative news website Fark.com creator Drew Curtis and Stone CEO/Co-founder Greg Koch, comes an imperial stout unlike any ever made. Brewed with rye, wheat malt and pecans and partially aged in Bourbon whiskey barrels, this viscous yet silken brew erupts with an oaky, nutty bouquet and rich flavors of vanilla, toast and bitter chocolate. Enjoy now or cellar this celebration of nth degree passion and geekery applied most gracefully to the craft of brewing and collaboration-Drew Curtis/Wil Wheaton/Greg Koch Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout!
  • Recommended Glassware: A Tulip
  • Russ' rating: 10 of 10
  • With the brew: Getting Older And Better
  • Comments: It is impossible to know in our youth what we will become when we have aged. All we can do to shape our future is to be honest with ourselves and others and work hard at becoming more than we were the day before. The three people who collaborated on this beer could not have chosen better ingredients and methods to create a brew that would age into something magical. Something that will become more exciting with time. Even young and new it pours heavy and thick into the glass--a beautiful obsidian body with a chocolate colored head of smaller than average ( < 0.5mm ) bubbles. The head settles quickly into a ring on the inside of the glass that sits atop this Imperial style beer like a crown. The nose is sweet and nutty, the bourbon vanilla and pecan influence immediately noticeable. The beer is best sipped and savored. It has a viscous mouthfeel with a sharp hoppy bite that is tempered by a sweet oak and toasted grain body. This is a fantastic and special beer. I was lucky to get two bottles, and one is already in the cellar and will come out a year or three from now to see what miracle age and time turn it into.
